University program

A university program for mobile security on virtual devices

Universities can apply to use recuritylab virtual iOS and Android devices with AI agents for research and teaching pilots, with no phone fleet to buy or maintain.

Our academic program gives mobile security research and teaching a shared, consistent lab on virtual devices.

Why virtual devices for academia

Physical phone labs are expensive, hard to keep consistent and quickly out of date. Virtual iOS devices for universities remove that overhead, with Android devices running alongside them.

01

No phone fleet

No buying, jailbreaking or rooting, resetting or replacing devices.

02

The same environment for every student

Consistent devices for the whole class, reset between sessions with snapshots.

03

Access from anywhere

Cloud devices, so students and researchers are not tied to a lab bench.

04

AI agents for teaching and research

Agents can demonstrate, explain and automate repeatable tasks, and MCP lets researchers connect their own AI tooling.

Research and teaching uses

A mobile security research lab for universities and a cybersecurity teaching lab for iOS and Android, on one platform.

Research

  • Mobile app security research
  • Foundations of OS and vulnerability research
  • Malware behaviour analysis in isolated environments
  • Research on AI agents for security testing

Teaching

  • Mobile app security testing courses
  • Secure mobile development
  • Labs organised around OWASP MASVS
  • Capstone and student projects

For ready-made practice material, see our guided scenarios on deliberately vulnerable demo apps. Faculty who want help building a course can ask about training.

What institutions get

The mobile security academic program, in practice:

  • Access to recuritylab virtual iOS and Android devices for the pilot scope we agree with you
  • AI agents and MCP access within the pilot
  • Onboarding help for faculty, with instructor training available on request
  • Guided scenarios you can use in the classroom
  • A direct line to our team for feedback: the program is also how we learn what academia needs

Who can apply

Acceptable Use Policy
  • Universities, colleges and comparable research institutions. Tell us about your institution and we will confirm eligibility.
  • Applications come from faculty or staff using an institutional email address, with a named faculty sponsor responsible for the pilot.
  • Use must be for research or teaching, on apps and targets your institution is authorized to test.
  • All use is subject to our Acceptable Use Policy, including its export-control and sanctions terms.

How to apply to the academic program

  1. Apply

Book a demo with “University program” selected, and tell us about your institution, department, faculty sponsor, intended research or teaching use and the platforms you need.

  2. Review

A person reviews every application, and we may ask follow-up questions.

  3. Pilot

We agree the scope, help you onboard and check in with you on results.

FAQ

Is the university program free?

Terms are agreed with each institution and depend on the pilot’s scope and goals. Book a demo with “University program” selected, tell us what you have in mind, and we will discuss terms with you directly.

Can students apply directly?

Applications come through a faculty sponsor, who is responsible for how the pilot is used. Students interested in the program should ask a faculty member to apply on behalf of their course, lab or research group.

Do we need physical iPhones or Android phones?

No. The program runs on recuritylab virtual iOS and Android devices in the cloud, with jailbreak or root access available. There is no device fleet to buy, prepare, reset or replace.

Which platforms does the academic program for mobile security cover?

iOS and Android. Both run as virtual devices on recuritylab, so research and teaching can cover the two platforms side by side.

Can we publish research done on recuritylab?

Tell us about your publication plans in your application. We agree how research results and acknowledgements are handled as part of the pilot terms.

Do you offer training for instructors?

Yes, on request. Faculty onboarding is part of the program, and through training we can help you build courses around virtual devices and AI agents.
